Delgado Community College is hosting Student Success Week, Feb. 28 – March 4, 2011, to help current and future students prepare sooner and more comprehensively for their higher education experiences.

To encourage new students to register early for fall 2011 semester and prepare ahead-of-the-curve to enter college, Delgado will waive the $25 application fee on one day only – Friday, March 4, 2011 – for all new students who meet the following criteria:

  • complete the admissions application (in person or online)
  • complete the financial aid process by April 18, 2011 (www.fafsa.ed.gov)
  • schedule a placement test by July 1, 2011

New students may apply online at www.dcc.edu or in person, as well as receive assistance with financial aid packets and placement test scheduling in person, on Friday, March 4, 2011, at any of the following Delgado locations:

The Student Affairs departments – including the registrar, admissions and enrollment services, financial aid, and advising and testing – at each of these locations will be available on March 4 to answer questions and assist students with the enrollment process, including applying to the college, applying for financial aid and scheduling placement tests.

During the week Delgado Student Affairs departments, Academic Affairs programs, and college partner representatives will gather to create a cooperative venue at each of these locations, one day per campus, where continuing students can receive comprehensive information and services geared toward early registration and semester preparation.  There will be special prizes and incentives offered to encourage all students to be “ahead of the curve” in readying for fall 2011 classes.  Following is the schedule for which days this cooperative venue will be available to students from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at all locations:

Financial Aid
Assist students with completing the FAFSA application, including explanation of documents (how to complete the forms and common mistakes); the appeals process, TOPS requirements; work-study requirements and protocol; information on scholarships, grants, loans and book vouchers.

Registrar
Print transcript; view unofficial transcript; request verification of enrollment form; change personal information online; check grades; check e-mail; drop classes online.

Student Life
Student Government Association elections; student organization. Student life has a Web site that is filled with up-to-date information at www.dcc.edu\studentlife.

Health Services
Immunization holds; Health 101, the online magazine offered by health services.
